Eastern Promises

This is the third year since we started our new section presenting the latest releases from the former socialist countries. Many interesting films have been made in the territory between the Baltic and Adriatic Sea, between the Kazakh Steppe and Białowieża Forest. We probably won’t cover every state, but we will discuss the new tendencies, some progressive works, directorial debuts, and even one scandalous piece with really serious socio-political testimony.
